Description

This axe originates from the Zambezi Valley of the BaTonga / Tonga people.

The BaTonga people of Zimbabwe were settled in and around the Binga District, Kariba Valley area, and some parts of Matabeleland. Tonga people are also in southern Zambia and to a lesser extent, in Mozambique. (wiki).

These axes are made by the indigenous people of Binga, Zimbabwe, and Zambia.

This style is used to carve out chunks the bark by woodcarvers.
