Kalinga Bontoc Igorot Headhunter Axe – Philippines Tribal Weapon.

The Igorot head-axe is a weapon unique to the indigenous peoples of the Cordillera Mountain Range of northern Luzon, Philippines and comes in slightly alternating shapes. Distinguished by its wide curved edge, pointed ends, and a stub located two-thirds of the way down the shaft for grip – the weapon bears unique qualities.

Typically used in battle, therefore, it is sometimes referred to as a battle axe. Beautiful piece in very good condition, a collectors dream.

The wooden haft is embellished with punched brass-work, with long iron ferrule and finely-modeled and embellished shape.
